Things to do in Brisbane

things to do in brisbane

Fortitude Valley is Brisbane's edgiest inner city suburb

Eat breakfast in the sun

Perfect weather means Brisbane's ideal for al fresco dining and breakfast in an outdoor café is a weekly ritual for many Brisbanites. There are excellent dining precincts in Fortitude Valley, New Farm, Paddington and West End.

Check out The Valley

Fortitude Valley is Brisbane's edgiest inner city suburb, home to the city's music and clubbing scenes plus a great place to eat out. The heart of the area is the Brunswick St Mall, home to the Valley Markets each Saturday.

Yum Cha in Chinatown

Running parallel to Brunswick St is the Chinatown Mall, where you can get your fill of yummy yum cha.

Look out from Mt Coot-tha Reserve

Check out the views from the Mt Coot-tha lookout, then visit the Brisbane Botanic Gardens and the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium.

Do a lap of the CBD

The Brisbane CBD is easy to walk around and features many of the city's historical sights and buildings including the Old Windmill (built by convicts in 1828), the former Treasury building (which is now the Treasury Casino) and Parliament House, built in 1868. Relax in the City Botanic Gardens or the Roma Street Parklands.

Explore South Bank

Walk or take a ferry across the river to South Bank. Here you can relax on the fake beach, stroll along the riverbank or visit the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, the Queensland Art Gallery or the Queensland Museum.

Dine out in West End

Just next to South Brisbane is West End, a laid-back leafy suburb with great dining options (for breakfast and dinner).

Visit a brewery

If you're in Queensland you drink XXXX and there's no harm in knowing a little bit more about the state's tipple of choice. The Castlemaine-Perkins XXXX Brewery runs tours which include a taste of the amber nectar.
