Eating and drinking in Brisbane

eating and drinking in brisbane

If you want a good steak in Brisbane you don’t have to look far

Brisbane has a great range of options for eating and drinking and plenty of places where you can combine the two.

Food

Steak restaurants

If you want a good steak in Brisbane you don’t have to look far. At the top end of the market is Cha Cha Char Wine Bar & Grill but the oldest and most-loved establishment is the Breakfast Creek Hotel.

A similar option, but on the southside is the Norman Hotel.

World cuisine

The Tibetan Kitchen, in the Valley and West End, serves up delicious Tibetan, Sherpa and Nepalese fare. Head to the Belgian Beer Café for a bucket of mussels and delicious beer to wash it down. Chinatown has a variety of Yum Cha restaurants to chose from. Also in West End is Sitar, which has very good Indian food, and Caravanseri — a delicious Turkish restaurant.

Breakfast

Brisbanites love to eat their breakfast out, especially on the weekend. Head to the Valley, New Farm, Paddington and West End.

Valley institutions Fatboy's Café, on Brunswick St, are renowned for their breakfasts. Likewise, try these favourites in West End: the Gunshop Café, Espressohead and Three Monkeys.

Drink

The Story Bridge Hotel is a great place to drink under the iconic landmark and has a great beer garden. The Belgian Beer Café has 30 Belgian beers on tap and the GPO in the Valley is a cool converted post office that is now a nightclub. There are plenty of nightclubs in Fortitude Valley including Family, the Empire and the Wickham Hotel.

Water

Brisbane's tap water is safe to drink.
